1000Volts is living up to their name, which comes as no surprise considering the duo is made up of two esteemed artists including legendary artist/rapper Redman and fast rising American producer Jayceeoh. Their blend of electronica and hip hop is intense and gripping, as can be heard on their immense second single Lights Out, a song which Jayceeoh co-produced with Hollywood producer B-Sides. The trio make an inimitable union on the riveting track, which has now received a music video treatment crafted by their buddy Maculate. Don’t miss out on this clip if you’re an Adventure Time fan. 1000Volts’ Lights Out is a free download, here.

Chicago’s Evan Thomas Weiss has given the world much angsty, sentimental indie rock music over the years under the name “Into It. Over It.”, with his last release being Intersections from 2013, out on Triple Crown Records. It’s been awhile since then, but Evan has unveiled an animated video for melancholic, beautiful album track The Shaking Of Leaves. It’s a must watch, especially if you have a huge soft spot for canines and sappy stories. If you’ve never heard the tune, expect some Death Cab For Cutie and Jeremy Messersmith like melting emo rock. You might want to keep a tissue handy as you watch the video below, if you tend to tear up easily. Awww…

OFFICIAL VID: De Lux – It All Works All The Time

April 3, 2014

I must say, this music video is probably the most interesting and NSFW video I’ve seen all week. The very adult oriented animated clip is soundtracked by Los Angeles duo De Lux’s single It All Works All The Time. This duo first caught my attention a few months ago with their funky, groovy music that seems to take a page from an endless array of genres and bands, including post-punk acts like The Bravery and Editors and funky alt dance acts like Holy Ghost! and !!!. It All Works All The Time also embodies that sound, and more, maybe even some Franz Ferdinand as well. The track is off their forthcoming album Voyage, out April 8.

OFFICIAL VID: Last Lynx – Lacuna

January 17, 2014

Swedish act Last Lynx dropped an exceedingly adorable video for their song Lacuna. I featured the slow tempo jam recently, but this clip is just too cute not to share again. Lacuna is on the indie alt pop act’s coming second EP Ocean Reels. There’s a delicious gauziness to the slightly lo-fi, sultry, and ever so balmy track.

OFFICIAL VID: Yo La Tengo – Ohm

July 11, 2013

This music video is worthy of sharing just for the visuals themselves, though, of course, the Yo La Tengo song is pretty good, too! Ohm is off their recent album Fade. The music video was created and directed by the creator of The Simpsons, and it’s an adorable, colorful, tongue in cheek clip that has a school of kids dissect who or what exactly veteran indie rock band Yo La Tengo is. I really enjoyed the formula scenes. How much music (song names, band names, artist names, etc) can you glean out of all those writings? Pretty sweet stuff! The animation is by Sugarshack Animation. Good job, fellas! Ohm will be released on a limited edition 12" soon on Matador. Alright, time to watch the clip again.

OFFICIAL VID: The Killers – Miss Atomic Bomb

December 12, 2012

I can’t say that The Killers’ latest disc Battle Born is my all time favorite The Killers album. Far from it, actually. But it’s still a very decent one that grew on me with repeat listens, and somehow, The Killers always fit cold, wintery weather more than Indian summers. I enjoy listening to them more later in the year. Yes, music can be very… “temporal”. Also, some bands always seem to release their albums at about the same time of the year, so it’s easy to associate their sound with a certain “feel” and “atmosphere”. The Killers have always been somehow… Holiday-ish and long cold nights music for me. Miss Atomic Bomb is one of the songs off the album that grew on me a LOT over repeat listens. They’ve released an animated cartoon clip for the single today. Pretty neat stuff. Especially with its live action mixed in. There’s something very Dick Tracy about it. And look, it’s Eric Roberts! Those celebs sure are hitting the music video circuits hard these days. WAIT A SEC. *GASP. Is this a sequel to Mr. Brightside?!?! It is!!!!!!!!!!!
