Los Angeles’ Carneyval and Jackson Breit make a dashing team on retro flavored swooner It Ain’t Love, a brassy track that blends 60′s soul with funky dance. Not only does Jackson Breit turn in a smoldering performance on vocals, but he lends his trumpeting skills to the hooking jam, too. Producer Carnevyl’s smooth dynamic production even sports some airy light, summer breezy moments. Though It Ain’t Love seems to be about heartbreak and disappointment, it sure lifts the spirits and leaves me swaying my head in giddy bliss.

I have absolutely no idea how I let this slip past me till now, but this boogie ready cover of James Blake’s magnificent opus, Retrograde, by Virginia Beach producer Carneyval, is far too deliciously sensational to pass up on now. Not only is this a Retrograde brimming with killer disco swag and frisky funk guitars, its phenomenal vocals are delivered by Celeste Stoney, the very American Idol finalist and Los Angeles songstress who spellbound me with her jaw dropping vocals late last year. Like I said, I have no idea how I missed this spring release till now, but nothing’s going to stop me from euphorically soaking it all in now. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go dance circles around my couch, something I never thought I’d be doing to Retrograde. Download the hot jam for free, here.

You may be a Kendrick Lamar fan, like so many of us are, but trust me, you haven’t heard his song “i” quite in this fashion. Rising producer INSTRUM synced up with another emerging talent named Carneyval on a remix that utilizes Jackson Breit’s vocal cover. The combined skills and aptitude from all these puzzle pieces of genius serve to forget an irresistible future house and deep house jam, millions of miles removed from Kendrick’s hip hop original. The smoothly bouncing anthem is a soulful must for our muggy summer months. Download the song for free, here.
