Once again, a new stripped down acoustic video for an incredible song has keyed us into an amazing rising artist and her music. New York’s Aisha Badru is an urban folk singer songwriter who delivers soul stirring music with a supple & emotive voice. You can watch her perform her recent single Bridges in an intimate setting below, but make sure you watch the video for the original above. Bridges is lifted from Aisha Badru’s debut album, due out this year. It follows on the heels of her 2015 Vacancy EP, which garnered a lot of attention from the advertisement world when her hushed single Waiting Around was utilized for a viral Volkswagen add in South Africa. That buzz continues to grow with delicate and understated Bridges, a tenderly stirring gem that feels like early, dusky BROODS gone ambient, atmospheric Daughter. Bridges is available, here.

Mystery and intrigue abounds as a new producer from Melbourne captures both our imagination and our nostalgia ridden hearts with his music. Appropriately named Kloake, this cloaked instigator of feels and thrills makes electronic music rooted in the analog days of the 80′s and 90′s. Synthcore, techno, electro house, and modern day electronica are interwoven together dexterously and smoothly. Though Kloake’s latest original, Bridges, featuring Nez Erok, leans hard into future bass territory, you can still detect a copious amount of throwback elements in the sleek oscillating, beautifully exquisite anthem. For more of a retrowave adventure, stream Kloake’s Honour below, which was the producer’s debut release earlier this month. It broods darkly and pulses magnificently, an adrenaline pumping electro-techno extravaganza that evokes Boys Noise, Gesaffelstein, and classic French house (ie. Daft Punk, Justice) all at once. Another can’t miss track from Kloake is his remix a year ago of Dj Falcon & Thomas Bangalter’s Together, plump with electro house and acid techno vibes. Whoever Kloake is, we’re big new fans, and we’re hoping he drops more tracks soon.

I still remember encountering Nine Pound Shadow for the very first time nearly half a year ago. It was a cool wintry night when I heard wistful haunting Melody while tuning into Live 105′s Soundcheck radio show. I was so drawn into its Broken Bells meets The Zombies like lilting psychedelic rock that I pounced on sharing the song the moment I had a chance to do so. I wasn’t the only one much impressed by the song. Danger Mouse himself included Melody on an inaugural compilation from his new label 30th Century Records. The Berkeley based brothers have since returned to leave me shivering in bliss with brand new song Bridges, a gentle drifting, weightless swirling gem that premiered on Beats 1. I’m once again utterly entranced by their gorgeous music as I float away in bliss. Bridges is out now on iTunes. Nine Pound Shadows is preparing to release an EP later this year.

Liquid beauty. Space Above remixes BROODS ‘Bridges’. Enchanting vocals begin the slow pulsating cinematic burn of the bridge. Half way through the song we find out how it feels to drive across a burned bridge. It’s an endless flight through the soundwaves of an atmosphere only Space Above can create.

OFFICIAL VID: Bridges – BFF

February 5, 2015

UK alt rock band Bridges’ BFF carries a gritty Southern bluesy rock flavor, not unlike Kings Of Leon, but fleshed out with mellifluous guitars and radiant hooks like those of indie pop and rock bands like Walk The Moon or Finish Ticket. The previously featured tune has a new music video to accompany it, and it’s a fortunate chance to re-visit the glowing song. BFF is Bridges’ second single, out on February 23 via Bear Pit Records.

If you like your Kings Of Leon a bit less growling, a tad more lustrous, and with a hint more pop, as if blended with some Interpol and a dash of Magic Man, Bridges’ BFF is going to be your new jam. BFF is the Bristol band’s second single, out officially February 23rd, via Bear Pit Records. It’s melodic, expansive guitar music at its driving apex, ready to sweep you away with soaring vocals and explosive, bursting riffs. To support the single, Bridges will be embarking on a mini tour of the UK this February.

In a combo of two synthy electronic pop acts that I’ve loved very much in the past year or year and a half, Brooklyn’s Little Daylight has remixed New Zealand duo BROODS’ beloved tune Bridges. It’s a refreshing take on the tune that takes on some dark and deep house leaning vibes, surprisingly heavy for Little Daylight, actually. Well played!

OFFICIAL VID: Broods – Bridges

May 28, 2014

It’s a beautiful morning in San Francisco, and there’s no better way to start up our day than with this lovely new video for New Zealand duo Broods’ always soothing and gossamer Bridges. No matter how many times I’ve listened to the tune, every time the breathtaking opening notes tinkle in, Bridges still induces heartfelt sighs. The song also brings me back to earlier this year, when I had Broods’ outstanding self titled EP playing on repeat, and when I caught them performing at Popscene/Noise Pop Fest. It is a magical song, indeed, and if you’ve passed up on listening to the rest of their EP, it’s time you check it out.
