Nevermind that BRUNSWICK is but 19 years old, this Londoner’s talent obviously outshines his years. He’s described by some as a new breed of performer, a writer & producer who makes totally immersive hybrid music, with roots placed in many music sub-cultures. ‘nevermine’, his explosive new single, showcases that eclectic personage with its “Rhythm & Grunge”, an exhilarating and gritty combination of alt rock, electro, and drum & bass. The song is about momentarily falling in love with someone that was never going to be yours to begin with. “It’s about hoping for something that will never come, and watching it all fall apart in front of your eyes.” In otherwords, it’s an anthem of desperation, crafted with riveting finesse. Perhaps “rhythm & grunge” is an extension of what some have coined “post-EDM” lately, but it’s most certainly a unique and striking new sound that we can’t put down. Follow along with BRUNSWICK’s releases on Soundcloud, here.

Illustrious musician Annie Clark, better known to the world as brilliant artist St. Vincent, put out one of my favorite art pop albums of 2017 in critically acclaimed Masseduction. While the record seemed to diverge from some of her gnarled guitar tracks of yore, it was a genius concept with incredible songs. Album single New York is undoubtedly a crowd favorite, a sing-along ready, melancholia steeped beauty. We love it too. And we can’t help but love this remix of the song by Los Angeles duo DJDS. I can’t imagine it’s an easy song to remix, but they’ve expertly crafted a drum & bass plus breakbeats inflected version of New York that gives the original some extra urgency and a darker aura. The official DJDJS version of New York is available at iTunes, here.

Hudson Mohawke’s Chimes is a classic in my book. Though I haven’t listened to it in awhile, the moment that progressive melody hit my ears raised all the serotonin levels in my brain to the max. And now, Basenji, another much revered production legend, has released his bootleg of Chimes. You should be no stranger to the remix if you’ve caught Basenji live. But to be able to dive into its breaking Jersey Club/garage styled intricacies whenever we want is a generous gift from the music gods. It’s almost as if Jamie xx and HudMo came together on a track. In other words, this is brilliantly divine. Basenji’s bootleg marks the beginning of a whole month of fresh releases from the producer. You can catch the Sydney artist back home in Australia this spring when he embarks on tour. Dates can be found, here.

Both Marble Empire and Katya DJ are fresh on our radar, but they sure make sweet sound together on Head Above The Water. Marble Empire is a British producer and multi-instrumentalist who specializes in 2-step and jazzy bass lines. He melds his electro-soulful sonic skills with Katya DJ’s fierce and smoldering voice on the swanky sublime jam, which also features some blazing Tom Misch-like guitar riffs. You’ll be hard pressed not to nod along and tap your feet to this rhythmic smoldering dazzler. No lie, I’m grooving out in my chair right now as I type this. I’m in love with this instrumental track from AllttA, a production duo that involves some fine musicians, including producer 20syl from French turntablists C2C and MR. J. MEDEIROS from Los Angeles based band Knives. The pair are in the midst of a single series named Facing Giants, from which a new track is revealed every Wednesday. Disarm (fg. VI) is their latest release, and I’m sure you recognized its inspiration from its opening chords straightaway. They’ve given a piano version of Bonnie Raitt’s infinitely romantic classic I Can’t Make You Love Me a gorgeously textured, brassy flaring hip hop and electronica cover re-work. You can listen to AllttA’s Facing Giants single series on Soundcloud, here. Snag the instrumentals from major outlets, here.

Last November, I went out and “danced on the moon” with our favorite Moving Castle heroes, Hotel Garuda, and it was pure joy leaping into the air with a colossal crowd of ecstatic people to their latest original, Dancing On The Moon, on which they even teamed up with Norwegian heavyweights Lemaitre. We’ve been waiting for a remix pack since, sure that Hotel Garuda’s luxurious oasis of smooth disco and exuberant electro funk would continue to thrive in the hands of some their gifted production buddies. Today, our hopes have been heard, our prayers answered. Three remixes of Dancing On The Moon are out, including this one by breakout Los Angeles producer JUDGE. He gives the track a darker vibe with his future funk and trap remix, turning this lunar escapade into a restlessly jostling, beats breaking extravaganza. Additional edits by Botnek and Cavego are also available for streaming, here. Support the original on iTunes, here.

Last year, Mura Masa released one of the year’s best electronic albums, and a quintessential track off the release is no doubt Lovesick, which Parisian duo SACRE has re-vamped on a brilliant cover. They inundate the original electronic track with plenty of their sparkly glitz and funky flourishes on an absolutely stunning re-work. It’s a frisky yet sleek, opalescent and French house infused rendering that kind of feels like a seamless encounter with Mura Masa, SBTRKT, C2C, and Justice, all at once. Lest you forgot how good SACRE’s originals are, make sure to re-visit them on Soundcloud, here.

We’d made the egregious mistake of missing out on Jameston Thieves and his opulent electronic track Ghost up till this week, despite the fact that the producer has been making waves with his brand of melodic breakbeats and future bass lately. Lucky for us, a new remix pack for Ghost has keyed us into the artist. The four track release features edits by Freefall, DIV/IDE, SFAM, and this guy, Castor Troy, who hails from California. He’s given Ghost a spacious whizzing, bass whomping workover to keep our hunger for heavy hitting electronica satiated to the max. Jameston Thieves’ Ghost remixes EP is available from iTunes, here. Swedish songcrafter and producer MagnusTheMagnus spruces up our night with plenty of fiery sass and bubbly dancehall imbued breaks & drums on Calling, a frisky fun track featuring fantastic vocals by KIDDO. With all the usual future bass and melodic bass fare we tend to come across, Calling is a breath of fresh air. It’s also whimsically infectious and piquant zestful. Let’s close out this long and arduous Monday with a truly invigorating jam. Elusive new producer Marinsky alights on our radar out of France with a fresh and funky banger, appropriately titled Rapture. A whirlwind torrent of glamorous disco, spicy electro-funk, visceral deep house, and trendy breakbeats greets our ears as we don our sequined dancing shoes to twirl the rest of the night away to this groovalicious flight of fancy. If ZHU, C2C, Daft Punk, and Junior Senior all jammed out together, it’d probably be rapturous like Rapture. You can snag this foxy banger, such a deliciously flute fluttering, brassy trumpeting, and bass pumping affair, here.
