I was super excited about this song even before I heard it. It’s so good to see a talented budding artist like Madge show up on such a behemoth collaboration. The LA based Salt Lake City newcomer blew our minds when she made her debut earlier this year on Fight Or Flight Club and we’re infinitely glad she’s been receiving a whole lot of well deserved attention since. And now, here she is, lending some feisty, spunky vocals to Kaskade, Brohug, and Mr. Tape’s aptly named Fun, a funky bass house groover. Throw your hands in the air and dance your heart out to the infectious punching banger. It’s steamy fierce, an inferno of a swag jam that reminds me of both NVDES and SOFI TUKKER, but with a bouncier step and a whole lot of zestful, gutsy spirit. Grab the track, here.

Last month, chameleon production virtuoso TOKiMONSTA shared the music video for her song with Selah Sue, I Wish I Could, not too long after we learned about her battle with medical challenges after being diagnosed with a rare ailment named Moyamoya. We’ve long known how immensely talented the Los Angeles based artist is, even contributing to crowdfunding for her first music video back in the day. Jennifer Lee never fails to defy our expectations with her sonic concoctions and the spectrum of sound she gives us on her variegated releases. I Wish I Could, a smooth and seductive, polished and elegant electro R&B and hip hop chimera has now received a remix treatment from another favorite of ours, alt dance pioneers SOFI TUKKER! The Grammy-nominated pair give the soulful track a fresh influx of dance energy on their brisk bounding, bass rippling remix. There’s no way you can ever listen to anything involving SOFI TUKKER and not want to get up and dance. The edit is a part of TOKiMONSTA’s new talent studded Lune Rouge Remixed record, which can be streamed/downloaded, here. In related news, SOFI TUKKER has also dropped a fresh new track, and as always, they’ve dealt us some incendiary bass and feisty sass on Batshit, which you can stream below. You could say we’re batshit for SOFI TUKKER. After all, we’ve already pre-ordered the duo’s debut album, Treehouse, and you can do so too, here. It arrives on April 13th, which is next week! YES!

It’s always a ginormous deal when Grammy-nominated alt dance duo SOFI TUKKER releases new music, but news of a debut full length? That’s bigger than big, and nothing short of monumental! Think about it for a moment…. a full length album, bursting at the seams with Sophie and Tucker’s incendiary bangers and fierce burning, sultry prowling songs. Treehouse can’t come any sooner, even April 13th still feels like an excruciating long wait. In the meantime, SOFI TUKKER fires up our day with a brand new track from the album, one which they first performed on Conan just last week. Get ready to strut your heart out to Baby I’m A Queen, rife with raucous guitars and anthemic lyricism. Just like many of SOFI TUKKER’s other songs, this is a full-blown hands in the air, make YOU feel like royalty sort of glamorous and fierce Brazilian house meets brassy dance pop dazzler. The song was written about embracing tumultuousness and vulnerability. “Just because you are vulnerable, doesn’t mean you have to let yourself be belittled or infantilized (why is "baby” the default nickname?)“ the band says of the song. "We are strong and empowered because we cry, because we desire, and because of what is chaotic about us. This song is about standing up as strong and powerful, because of that courage to share ourselves. It’s about being both a baby and a queen at the same time.” Pre-order Treehouse, here, which SOFI TUKKER explains is about the childhood spirit of play. The ground-breaking dance pioneers will be kicking off their Treehouse World Tour in D.C. on April 18th, with a stop in Oakland at the Fox on May 18th. Find out more about the tour, here.

SOFI TUKKER’s wildly infectious Best Friend, the Grammy nominated duo’s collaboration with The Knocks, NERVO, and Alisa Ueno, is easily one of the year’s best dance tracks. It’s certainly one of our top favorites, and we’re still glowing with joy from the fact that it’s been featured so prominently by Apple in their big iPhone X commercial. The NYC based alt dance duo shared an immense remix pack for Best Friend last Friday, off which comes this frisky fun, beat clobbering edit by Sophie and Tucker themselves. The energetic pumping new “Carnaval Remix” is well worth of some prismatic plumed Brazilian Carnival shenanigans. This rump shaking rendition is a Brazilian house bonanza, and it’s available from iTunes alongside three other edits on the new remix pack, here.

By now, I’ve been fortunate enough to catch SOFI TUKKER live so many times that you’d think that I’ve gotten used to their high energy, crowd elating sets. Yet each time a new chance to see Sophie and Tucker fire up the audience with their groundbreaking form of Brazilian house-pop and jungle-y alt dance leaves my heart fluttering anew with excitement. From the pair’s very first shows at SXSW a couple years back to a dazzling set at the Greek Theater ahead of Odesza a few weeks ago, SOFI TUKKER has been nothing short of magnificent. We’ve also been wildly reveling in the success of Best Friend, their colossal new single with NERVO, The Knocks, and Alisa Ueno. As if 2017 isn’t already closing out strong for SOFI TUKKER and SOFI TUKKER fans alike, the duo have now unleashed Energia, a vivacious, beatific, and contagious carousel ride that dips fully into the Brazilian/Portuguese side of the pair’s sound. Like Drinkee and Matadora, Energia is a collaboration with Brazilian poet Chacal. It’s got plenty of that smoldering SOFI TUKKER spice and fire that we fell so hard for previously. All that’s left to do now is dance, wild and feral, untamed and free, to yet another phenomenal genre defying, classification breaking SOFI TUKKER heater. Download/stream the single, here.

I became an instantaneous fan of Jarina De Marco a year ago when I heard her eclectic single TIGRE over a year ago. The Los Angeles based artist, whose roots lie in both the Dominican Republic and Brazil, seemed to bring together her diverse background with ease on the rump shaking Brazilian bass meets dancehall extravaganza. Now, Jarina De Marco has teamed up with Miami production bigwigs GTA on an exhilaration new anthem named STFU. Spice, spunk, and Latin fire abound on the killer banger. Jarina De Marco is certainly a sound of the future. She’s a must for fans of SOFI TUKKER. I expect her buzz to grow exponentially. Wildly infectious STFU is out on Mad Decent. Stream/purchase, here.

It’s a jumbo sized collaboration as SOFI TUKKER drops a bombshell of a groover named Best Friend, on which the Grammy nominated duo are joined by Los Angeles electronic bigwigs NERVO, New York dance darlings The Knocks, and Tokyo DJ/culture influencer Alisa Ueno. Best Friend is the sort of fiery scorching, racy pumping SOFI TUKKER banger with a deep groove and plenty of island flair. It’s so hot, it’s even been tapped for that new iPhone X commercial. SOFI TUKKER’s new song is, as its name implies, an appreciative celebration of friendship. You can catch the New York house/dance duo live when they perform at Life Is Beautiful in Vegas later this month or when they tour with Odesza this fall. I’m excited to see them yet again when Odesza makes their three night stop at the Greek in Berkeley. You can also stream and download Best Friend, here.

A chance encounter brought me to the steps of this thrilling remix, and try as I might, I couldn’t find out too much about the producers behind the magic. Helio Kiyoshi is, apparently, a producer from Brazil and Vale is a mystery, but the pair have joined forces to turn out this heavy hitting, hard thumping remix of Empire Of The Sun’s We Are The People. It’s a dark bustling, robust whomping adrenaline pumper that involves deep house and Brazilian bass. You can download the remix for free, here.

I’m thoroughly enraptured by the high voltage treatment this producer has given Cruel Youth’s Alexis Texas. In fact, I’m thoroughly enraptured by everything I’ve hitherto encountered from Darth & Vader after falling in love with that taut gripping remix. The Brazilian producer turns Cruel Youth’s Alexis Texas into a tense jouncing Brazilian bass, dark smoldering deep house, & sharply serrated future house chimeric beast. It’s just the Monday morning spritz of adrenaline pumping, serotonin releasing dance music I need. The original comes off of Cruel Youth’s excellent 2016 EP, +30mg, a bewitching sonic affair if there ever was one, with Teddy Sinclair’s smoky exquisite vocals on full display. For more of Darth & Vader’s electrifying sonic stimulation, check out his remix of Nirvana classic Come As You Are below. And for a dose of gratifying originality, stream Darth & Vader’s collaboration with Vincce & Luo below that. Revel in Kalinda’s visceral fusion of deep house, acid techno, Brazilian house, and future house.

Any reason to re-visit any track off of SOFI TUKKER’s game changing 2016 debut EP Soft Animals is a good one, much less an aquatic beauty like this lyric video the Grammy nominated duo has unveiled for Moon Tattoo. It’s the perfect visual accompaniment for the cool, refreshing piece, which sits at the opposite end of the spectrum when compared to Sophie and Tucker’s spicier, more fiery Brazilian jungle house offerings. Lush, mellow Moon Tattoo is tranquil soothing and halcyon entrancing. The pull of gravity itself fades in the presence of this song, and I find myself levitating right up to that mystical moon, a living and breathing magical being in SOFI TUKKER’s beautiful world. Their brilliant Soft Animals EP is available from major digital outlets, here.
