Though I’ve been missing Ex Cops these days, I’m also very jubilant that we get to continue to enjoy music from Ex Cops founder Brian Harding’s other project, Blond Ambition. In fact, we’re going to get a full album from Blond Ambition on May 19th via Swoon City Music. The musician from Brooklyn shared a music video today for his single “Stupid Boy / Girl”, which he says he wrote as a “statement of solidarity for the trans community.” It’s a poignant tribute, delivered in the form of a spacey diaphanous, percussive rolling alt pop ditty. The visuals for “Stupid Boy / Girl” goes hand in hand with Blond Ambition’s missive on the song. Blond Ambition’s debut album Slow All Over can be pre-ordered now, here.

I found myself gravitating towards Blond Ambition’s debut, Hurricanes, instantaneously. Upon further inspection, it all made some logical sense. After all, the new solo project comes from Ex Cops’ founder Brian Harding, and I happen to be quite a fan of that Brooklyn duo. Hurricanes is a gentle chugger that kicks in with some spacey disco glam before it softens up into plucky, gazey dreaminess. The song is the first material to be revealed from Brian Harding’s month spent in a studio in LA recording a full length with producer and friend Andrew Miller. Hurricanes comes bundled with B-side Confused Forever on Apple Music. Blond Ambition’s debut album will be out in 2017.
