Today, Brooklyn dark pop duo MS MR released their Fantasy Remix EP, which includes their hit tune Fantasy and the above sweet LCD Soundsystem cover. MS MR’s version of Dance Yrself Clean is an addictive piano pop anthem that builds up to some intoxicating, major brownie points garnering sax sections (me and brass, as always). The duo have been performing the cover live for a long while now, but it’s only for this EP that they recorded a studio version for our listening pleasure. I’m ecstatic about MS MR’s recent found popularity, after having zealously gushed about them since early last year after falling for their song Bones. I was super fond of their 2012 EP Candy Bar Creep Show, and I very much enjoyed debut album Secondhand Rapture early this year. Way to go, MS MR. Another track off today’s Fantasy Remix EP is the previously featured, deep house remix of Fantasy by Kele Okereke of Bloc Party. Let’s listen in on it again!

Kele Okereke – Heartbreaker

November 12, 2013

Kele Okereke of Bloc Party is releasing a new EP! The 4 track Heartbreaker will be out on November 25 on vinyl (December 9 on Beatport). He’s also previewed the title track today, and it’s a deep house jam featuring vocals by Bobbie Gordon. That’s right. Kele producing house music. That was a surprise for me, but it’s such a delicious UK house tune that can easily be filed next to Disclosure. Kele seems to really like focusing on the electronic stuff when on solo projects.

For an alternate take on RAC’s latest single Let Go, which features Kele of Bloc Party and MNDR, listen to this remix by Los Angeles band Sir Sly. Sir Sly takes the affable synthpop track and creates a far more somber version. While Kele’s verses seem to take center stage on the original, MNDR’s ethereal, haunting chorus steal the show on this one. Sir Sly did a fantastic job. Watch the video for the original edit again:

I’ve been waiting for this one. How could I not? There was much anticipation. What do you get when RAC, MNDR, and Kele (Okereke of Bloc Party) collaborate on a track? This laid back, synthy jam titled Let Go! It has its sweet RAC production, Kele’s signature vocals, and catchy MNDR vocals. Let Go is a delicious late summer groove. The tune official comes out as a single tomorrow August 20.

Ha, here’s a fun remix for ya. Scottish electronic producer Rustie decided to remix Bloc Party’s recent surprise single Ratchet, and the end results is one bouncy extravaganza. It’s a wonky, dirty, frenetic trap approach to the track. Revisit the official Cyriak helmed music video for the original track below. I can’t wait to hear more new Bloc Party tunes off their coming EP out mid-August.
