Whoa, what a resounding return by Blair! The indie artist from Los Angeles floored critics and new fans alike when he first made his debut two years ago with Five Past Ten. Aside from some other fine releases since, plus a guest stint on k?d’s distance, he’s taken his time to drop new tunes. It’s been 10 months since Oceans, but Blair makes sure to remind us of why he’s been the talk of indie town with his new song New Eyes, a high flying alt rock song that even channels shades of Editors’ post-punky tunes. Blair says: “It’s been a while for me. Some time ago, I found myself in a very dark place. It felt like an impossible hole to climb out of, so I checked myself into rehab for two months. Out of that darkness I found a creativity and serenity unlike any I have known before. I not only had the desire to write music back but it was something I needed to do. I spent the last 9 months discovering a new sense of self and putting to rest an old one. On this journey I found an album full of songs that is more honest than anything I’ve ever made. This body of work is not only a documentation of demons – it’s creation itself is a triumph over them.I’ll be releasing that music, marking a new chapter in my music and my life.” New Eyes is larger than life, and it leaves us flushed and ready for more of Blair’s new music! Out of all the producers we fervently praise on IHM, k?d has been one of the most exciting newcomers to hit the scene this past year. From his cosmic and profound originals to jaw dropping remixes like his edit of Daft Punk’s Doin It Right, the young prodigy has left the dance music scene stunned with his natural talent. His sold out set at 1015 last month ago was certainly the most thrilling and satisfying electronic sets I’ve caught all year. k?d returns this week with a fresh new jam featuring hotly tipped rising Los Angeles artist Blair. If you’ve wondered what a Passion Pit and Porter Robinson collaboration might sound like, Distance is your answer. k?d offers up chromatic electro house, iridescent future bass, and infectious dance pop on the youthful bounding, brisk pulsing tune, which can also be streamed via Spotify, here.

Blair blew everyone away when the Los Angeles based musician debuted with Five Past Ten last year. He was practically the “talk of music town” after that, yet he’s taken his time to craft and release his music. Oceans is only his fourth single despite the massive success of each of his prior stellar tunes, and it’s the perfect dance pop banger for ringing in our summer holiday weekend. Like Passion Pit mixed with Penguin Prison and POWERS mixed with Digitalism, Oceans is an eruption of feet moving, jaunty bouncing joy. Blair says of the song: “In the year this record took to make, I found myself unsatisfied with the process of electronic music production. I felt like i was inside a box. This record came whole the moment real instruments were introduced. I wanted people to hear the imperfect human element that has been all but replaced by its robotic emulations. Perfection is boring.” Download Oceans for free, here, and prepare to dance all weekend long.

LA based indie artist Blair made his long awaited return two weeks ago by collaborating with argonaut&wasp on a cosmic soaring dance pop cut named Planetary, scintillating us with a brisk vitality that evoked a combination of Digitalism and Empire Of The Sun. That fabulous tune has now received a lavish official remix treatment, courtesy of California duo ARDENCY. This bold wavy, dreamy rippling makeover is an intergalactic joyride. The neon hued retro re-fix is a synthcore meets electro eruption of blazing brilliance.

It’s been a long eight months or so of waiting, but Blair, the Los Angeles based indie artist who blew the tastemaker community away with first singles Five Past Ten and Liquid Courage last year, is finally back. And he’s brought along IHM faves argonaut&wasp, too! Prepare for a cosmic dance fest as Blair and their Vermont buddies lift us up with sizzling guitars, frisky synths, and spirited beats on Planetary. It’s all very Digitalism meets Empire Of The Sun but with a rocking twist, and it’s pure fire. Blair promises new music every month this year. Jackpot. Planetary will be out on all outlets come Friday.

Blair’s debut, Five Past Ten, took us by storm a few weeks ago, causing quite a stir with its sweltering 80′s dance rock and peppy indie pop. Though the earworm of a tune won’t stop wiggling its way through my head on a near daily basis, Blair has already followed it up with a second stupendous treat named Liquid Courage. It arrives at an opportune time, just as we prepare for carefree summer hangs with our closest friends. My spirits are infinitely lifted by the jovial whistling and hooking dance pop on the sun kissed dapper tune. Who needs to partake in liquid courage when we have Blair’s Liquid Courage? With the arrival of this second gem, it’s become obvious that Blair has a knack for dishing out flashy infectious smash hits.
