Beautiful harmonies, halcyon guitar strums, and a whole lot of pastoral nostalgia washes over us as we melt into Catching Up. The woodsy stirring song comes from a Toronto outfit named Birds of Bellwoods, a quartet who has established themselves as one of Toronto’s most unique emerging bands. Their self-released EP, The Fifth, racked up accolades including a 2016 Independent Music Award and an International Songwriting Competition prize. Now, Birds of Bellwoods is gearing up for the release of a debut album named VICTORIA, on October 20th. They’re more than ready to put their deeply moving folk inflected indie rock songs on full display, and I’m grateful to have discovered them in the process. For another taste of the quartet’s dewy stirring rock, stream A Year Ago below. Keep up with the band and news of their debut full length on their website, here.
