Billy Lockett’s latest single is named Who I Am. Perhaps we can answer that question for him. He’s an exceptional 25 year old singer songwriter from the UK who has the capability of melting the coldest of hearts with his impeccable falsetto and his halcyon stirring music. And he’s offered up a soul searching performance on this new pastoral glissade, which combines the sweeping vistas of Bon Iver, the lush warmth of Cinematic Orchestra, and the bittersweet beauty of BANNERS. Speaking on the track, Billy quotes: “I went through a phase of constantly comparing myself to others. This song is about how destructive that way of thinking is and how you should only focus on yourself, who are you and what you do.” Who I Am is available across all digital platforms now.

If Billy Lockett had a heart shaped locket, the jewel he’s captured inside of it could very well be my own heart. The UK singer songwriter renders me a molten mess with his piano pop and folk pop ballad, Hands Tied. It’s a tender stirring second offering from his forthcoming debut album. Billy Lockett counts Bon Iver, Oh Wonder, London Grammar, Cinematic Orchestra, and acclaimed Italian pianist and composer Ludovico Einaudi as influences. No wonder I’m drawn to his music, considering my love of every one of those named. Hands Tied’s close intimacy and bittersweet cooing certainly draw comparison to early Bon Iver, as well as BANNERS and Aquilo. Hands Tied is out today on all digital platforms.

We’ve been waiting for more news regarding Billy Lockett’s debut album for over half a year, and though he hasn’t returned with details regarding its release just yet, the UK singer songwriter is back with that incredible voice and a beautiful new song. More’s soulful folk and its emotionally charged alt pop is powerfully moving. It feels honest, raw, and sincere, propelled by Billy Lockett’s resounding vocals and impassioned keys. More is out now via all major outlets, here. Re-visit some of Billy’s prior songs on Soundcloud as we continue to zealously look out for debut album announcements.

Wide Eyed opens up with tender aching keys that feel like little pin jabs at the heart. Then Billy Lockett’s angelic pure voice alights upon our ears, and nothing can be more perfect. We’re brought to sonic Elysium by the immaculate combination. Soulful pop and rich expansive indietronica tug unmercifully at our heart strings, leaving us shattered but convinced that this is the most beautiful music we’ve heard in as long as we could remember. It’s as if Rhodes and James Vincent McMorrow melded into one heavenly being to uncover our deepest, most aching memories. Wide Eyed is the first single from the UK artist’s forthcoming debut album.

Thanks to a generous invite out to his headline tour closing show at The Tabernacle in London this Thursday, I’ve been tuned into a folk artist from the UK named Billy Lockett and his beautiful music. It’s his largest headline UK tour, 21 dates, and judging from his music, it will be something quite special. Sadly, I cannot attend, unless someone invents a teleporter in the next two days. Billy’s latest single is Old Man, a piano driven gem, sentimental and imbued with such exquisite poignancy. Watch Billy Lockett’s recent video for the song below. Old Man is the title track off a recent four track EP.
