Moves Like Ms Jackson

March 24, 2014

Making waves and creating buzz on the internet the past several weeks is this mysterious mashup/flip titled Moves Like Ms. Jackson, by an enigmatic Los Angeles producer named ZHU (who released it anonymously, but sleuths have since figured it out). Moves Like Ms. Jackson is an awesome medley that throws together so many of Outkast’s sweet hit songs, including So Fresh So Clean, The Way You Move, Ms. Jackson, and The Whole World. For all the kids wondering who the hell Outkast is after their headlining slot at Coachella was announced… listen up, study up! Then go jam to the originals.

Big Boi feat. Phantogram & Sade CPU 2.0 (Dungeoneze Rmx)

January 28, 2014

Today’s an epic day of collaborations between hip hop artists and indie acts. Despite all the crazy Outkast reunion hoopla going on, Big Boi has stayed dedicated on his solo work. He’ll be dropping some special remixes for songs off his last album, Vicious Lies & Dangerous Rumors, over the next few weeks. This week’s remix is a slick, chic version of CPU titled CPU 2.0 that features Phantogram and Sade’s Nothing Can Come Between Us by Atlanta producer Dungeoneze. The luscious song is paired with some hypnotizing computer visuals below.

OK, I gotta say, this is pretty cool. Psych rockers Tame Impala visited the Triple J Radio studios in their native Australia and performed this groovy cover of OutKast’s Prototype!

OFFICIAL VID: Big Boi ft. Jake Troth & Epic Meal Time – Apple Of My Eye

Big Boi’s got a new video for us, and it features a weird skit with Epic Meal Time. Apple Of My Eye is an excellent, groovy hip hop track off his recent album Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors. I love the horn section, no big surprise there.

Yes, thank you, Stereogum. I listened to this the other day but there was no easily shareable version yet. I’m sure someone already put this up on youtube and elsewhere since then, but hey, Stereogum did a story on it, so here you go. The world was abuzz over the fact that despite the retirement of Outkast, Andre 3000 and Big Boi were reuniting for ONE track. It was totally out of the blue after much repeated and stoic promises that the two would never work together again. Yet, here it is… Frank Ocean’s remix of one of his ChannelOrange tracks… the Pink Matter Remix, featuring both Andre 3000 AND Big Boi. Pigs are flying!

OG track below, as always…

Ha! Again, no diss on Kelly Rowland, her version’s great too, but THIS is the way Mama Told Me was meant to be from the very beginning. With Little Dragon. Big Boi and Little Dragon performed the track on Fallon over the weekend, video below. Nothing beats watching Yukimi dance it up! On top of that, someone put the thing on soundcloud. Thanks, stranger!
