Like a fragrant perfume, Ayelle’s softly haunting, sensually hovering voice lures us into her new track Young, an electro-R&B and chill electronica ballad produced by Alex Lustig. The Swedish-Iranian siren and her Belgian cohort envelop us in gossamer flickering warmth on the finely textured, yet thickly intoxicating late night serenade. Young is a song drenched in honeyed nostalgia and sighing remorse. We tend to look to the past with rose colored glasses, and to the future with doubt and fear. Those relationships long gone often seem hard to measure up to after time has healed most of our hearts’ wounds. That idea of “what if” will always plague us, but at least we can rack our own minds in the most sublime manner possible, while accompanied by this feathery, milky nocturne.

The other day, I ambled upon a mysterious project named Roy Blair, and I know nothing about him, or them. I’m guessing it’s a him, but I can’t be sure. His latest single, Shell, is making quite an impression, having acquired 19K streams on Soundcloud along and I’m sure several times that on Spotify and elsewhere. Its a lo-fi fusion of indie rock and acoustic R&B soul. It feels sincere and gritty, heartfelt and enduring. And this isn’t Roy Blair’s first fine rodeo, either. His Soundcloud features a full year of fine sonic accomplishments, each of them having racked up a lot of listens, too. You can check them out on Soundcloud, here. You can be sure I’ll be looking out for more info regarding this artist in the days ahead.

Bedrooms is a mighty appropriate name for SWIMS’ debut. I drift away in my bedroom, listening to this new duo out of London and their misty weightless R&B pop. Its soft hip hop caress and infectious melody carry me into the clouds, bringing along a melancholic undercurrent brimming with late night aching and yearning. Bedrooms is a cotton fleecy debut that leaves me craving for more SWIMS.

It’s been but a few months since Canadian newcomer Ursa Major first surfaced with stunning debut, Dusk, and he’s now unleashed a debut EP too. The 19 year old singer songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from Toronto has crafted a five track compendium of moving R&B named Lo-Fi Sky. The title track is a simmering ballad with much ornate detail, its somber disposition and spaciously textured atmosphere reflective of the true grandeur and power of seemingly simplistic details we overlook in every day life. The DIY artist recorded his EP wherever he could, whenever creativity struck. Ursa Major calls his art psychedelic R&B. His music encapsulates those long sleepless nights when you’re sullenly stuck in your own head. All you want to do is trek out into the dark where you can lose yourself gazing deeply into the starlit sky. Yet, a bright orange sun prepares to rise from afar, bringing with it the warmth of hope. Stream the Lo-Fi Sky EP in full on Soundcloud.

And here’s yet another beautiful study in minimalism. Think bedroom pop mixed with The xx type minimalism and some light R&B flavor. Beacon is a Brooklyn R&B production duo set to release their debut album The Ways We Separate on April 20. Lead single off the album is this gem, Bring You Back. Their production prowess shines through in glimmery brilliance on the track, and the vocals are alluring and lulling. It’s a heckuva tune. Dang, these songs are really putting me in the wrong mood for the show I’m hitting up tonight (Marilyn Manson)! What’s up with that? All good, I’ll up the energy later, no problem.
