I’ve never seen a show (or a basketball game) at NYC’s famed venue, Madison Square Garden, unless you count that one time I saw the Rockettes there when I was a little girl with my parents. But I sure wish I had been there when Robotaki debuted his new single Automaton at MSG last year. The Montreal producer dazzles with an array of succulent synths and plump beats on the meditative thriller, a song which fully encapsulates its name. I can only imagine how immense an experience it would have been to be one of the first to hear this song live. Automaton is a cinematic sprawling fusion of crisp melodic bass, nostalgic retrowave, and mecha grinding grittiness. Past, present, and future combine on Automaton, both in its sound and in the vivid tale it recounts. The single, out now on Monstercat, can be purchased from major outlets, here.

The world can collectively release that breath they’ve been holding since since legendary British acid-jazz and electro funk outfit Jamiroquai first teased forthcoming new music. Automaton has arrived to thrill our senses. Jay Kay and his band wax extra electronic on this new single, the title track from their long awaited new album (and first since 2010). A jagged jabbing, razor sharp eruption of acid disco funk arrives via an other worldly video, satiating a bit of our hunger for new Daft Punk in the process. Jamiroquai’s new album will arrive on March 31st. Pre-order here as we wonder together how the rest of that album is going to sound.
