We’re always met by glacial grandeur and flawlessly ethereal vocals when it comes to Aurora, the Norwegian musician who’s been an IHM favorite for several years now. As expected, Aurora Aksnes has become a much beloved artist in that time, and she’s preparing to release a new album to follow up on her much praised 2016 debut, All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend. The free spirited artist has shared a magnificent new song named Queendom, whose video is as fanciful and other worldly as we’ve come to expect from Aurora. Queendom is majestic and regal, with a wonderfully vernal vibrancy. And it only seems appropriate that she’d release a song named Queendom, considering the fact that she’s struck us as an ice princess or snow queen (of the benevolent kind) since day one. Queendom celebrates diversity and differences, it’s a festive revelry of a plumed beauty. New music from Aurora always feels like a blessing we are not worthy of. She’s as magical and magnanimous as they come. Stream/download Queendom, here.

There’s no denying that part of the magic of AURORA’s magnetism lies in watching her emotive delivery of her glacial enchanting songs. Therefore, a new Aurora Aksnes video is always cause for celebration. As always, she gives us a riveting and expressive performance in the wondrous video for I Went Too Far, leaving us with the impression that she’s from another time and place a long way removed from our mundane, everyday life. I Went Too Far is AURORA’s latest emotive and bewitching single from beautiful debut album My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend. AURORA will be heading back to North America this month in support of that album playing shows and festivals including Panorama, Lollapalooza, and Osheaga. She’ll also be stopping by Howard Stern on July 25th to perform her incredible cover of Bowie’s Life On Mars. Having experience the immensity of her live show myself, I highly recommend you catch her while you can, particularly if you get to do so in a more intimate setting.

I’ve already watched so many different acoustic videos of Norwegian dark princess of pop AURORA performing her haunting song Murder (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) on YouTube, and even caught her performing it live earlier this year, but nothing prepared me for this riveting new music video. Starkly simple yet thoroughly riveting, AURORA transfixes me fully with both the melancholic beauty of the song as well as her twitchy motions and emphatic expressions in the clip. Cold and twisted Murder (5, 4, 3, 2, 1) is oddly tender and heartrending despite its theatrical qualities. I can’t wait for what comes next from this brilliant artist, who’s sure to be a huge sensation soon.

Hold on to your hats, kids, because I’m about to amaze you with a fantastic young artist out of Norway named Aurora, or Aurora Aksnes. Having missed her debut single Awakening a year ago, Under Stars is my first introduction to her mystique filled, entrancing electronic pop music. The second single from the 18 year old is an ethereal, soaring song that feels like it’s made up of sparkling, dazzling pieces of the cosmos. Her icy, crystalline vocals bespeak of her Scandinavian roots, sounding wonderfully similar to those of Oh Land and many other artists from that territory. Aurora was nominated as Newcomer Of The Year 2014 by P3 Gold in Norway. Listen to her first single, Awakening, below. Aurora is working on a debut album for 2015. I find myself looking forward to it already, though I’ve only just found out about her. There’s something exceptional and magical about her.
