It’s a collaboration of epic proportions as Amsterdam’s Don Diablo partners up with Jersey indie electronic darlings A R I Z O N A on a breezy tune named Take Her Place. It’s a gentle, tender waltz of a house and future bass jam. In usual A R I Z O N A form, Take Her Place tenderizes the heart, while Don Diablo whisks us away on a dance-ready balmy house fantasy. Take Her Place is a fairy tale of a key-laden, beatific beauty. Take Her Place is the second single from Don Diablo’s forthcoming album. He’s totally on point when he says: “it’s the perfect marriage between my trademark production style and the bands’ signature style.” Stream/download Take Her Place, here.

A R I Z O N A, whom as we all know, is actually from New Jersey, will be making their San Francisco headlining debut at Popscene come mid-September, and I’m grateful that I was on time in snagging my ticket, considering how quickly it sold out. In fact, it sold out so fast that the band added a second earlier show the same night, which also sold out. The three piece has certainly been a darling of the scene, especially after releasing their album GALLERY, a moving exhibit of their unique combination of indie electronica, pop, and alt rock. Cross My Mind is one of many such stirring tunes on GALLERY and one of my favorites. A new version of the song has surfaced, featuring none other than Linkin Park collaborator and bubbly future pop artist Kiiara, who lends additional vocals to Cross My Mind Pt. 2. Her dulcet pop vocals are the perfect surprise accessory to A R I Z O N A’s cool summery, saccharine longing gem. GALLERY is available from iTunes, here.

I’m really hoping I receive A R I Z O N A’s debut album GALLERY in the mail by tomorrow. I was so excited for its release that I ordered a signed physical copy of the album. I also made sure to grab my ticket for their San Francisco debut at Popscene on September 15th, an event which sold out in mere minutes, as expected. Their latest saccharine melting single from GALLERY, Electric Touch, has already received some fine remixing treatments this month. While I pray to the music gods for GALLERY’s arrival, Iet’s surrender to the dramatic thrumming, tense lurching future beats rendering that Arizona based producer OLMOS has given Electric Touch. The electro trap remix feels like it’s one part synth shuddering Gryffin and one part Skin era Flume. Vote for OLMOS’ remix in a contest on Wavo, here. Order A R I Z O N A’s debut album, here.

A handful of magnificent remixes of A R I Z O N A’s ever melting Oceans Away dropped recently. From Mansionair’s tear jerker of a gorgeous remix we turn to a more upbeat and hopeful edit by LA based Dutch production duo, Vicetone. Oceans Away’s beautiful melody gets an injection of warmth and phosphorescence on this bright eyed hopping, nimble springing remix. In A R I Z O N A’s narrative, we may be “oceans away” from the object of our affection, but we swiftly conquer waves and cruise across a clear blue sea on a sunlit day towards our destination. Vicetone’s lifting edit is out now on iTunes.

We know from past experience that Jersey trio A R I Z O N A’s moving anthems lend themselves very well to emotionally charged remix treatments. Yet, we still weren’t prepared for the sheer melting force of this edit. Sydney’s Mansionair destroys me with their remix of new single Ocean’s Away. They literally scoop my heart right out of my chest with this beautifully aching chill atmospheric re-work. This may very well be the most touching remix I’ve ever encountered. Excuse me, I need to cry rivers of tears in the corner while losing myself fully to this gem. Sigh. You can purchase or stream Mansionair’s remix via all major services, here.

Oceans Away is grand and sprawling, a cinematic moving piece from Jersey trio A R I Z O N A. It’s the exact sort of heartrending alt pop meets indie rock emulsion we’ve come to expect from the band, and possibly their best yet. The wistful longing in this weightless, breezy anthem is more than palpable, while its vibrant cadence ventures close to infectious indie dance territory. The song, which first surfaced earlier this year, comes with a visually stunning music video. Oceans Away is the lead single from the trio’s debut album, sure to make a big splash when it arrives. Oceans Away is out now on iTunes.

Frances Cone took my breath away last month when the Brooklyn trio revealed new song Arizona, whose rustic endearment and vast expanse take me on a magnificently reflective journey. They’ve now released a video accompaniment for the single, its wanderlust sparking panoramas a moving fit for the song’s rolling hills, golden grasslands, and blue skies. Frances Cone brings me back to my childhood, when I visited these powerful landscapes with my family. The rush of memories is near overwhelming, teasing me of a time long gone, chapters well worth a revisit both metaphorically and literally. When I find time to jump into the car and head out on the great highway in search of these memories, I know what song I’ll be blasting as I cruise down those dusty roads and embark on a float down great Lake Powell. Arizona is the first track from Frances Cones’ new album, Late Riser, due out this summer.
