It’s been years now since New York hip hop act Angel Haze first transfixed me with her genuine delivery and brazen spunk on her song New York. Since then, the artist has proven herself much versatile with her music. We already know that Angel can rap, and that she can sing, too. Today, Angel Haze reveals a new track from her upcoming album Back To The Woods, and on this one, she sings, and captivates, and spellbinds, in a darkly poignant fashion. Moonrise Kingdom is no longer a reference to a Wes Anderson film from now on. Going forth, Moonrise Kingdom is also a rousing, melodramatic ballad from Angel Haze, a fine reveal from Back To The Woods, out soon on September 14th. Stream Moonrise Kingdom from Spotify above, and Soundcloud below.

I’m rather disappointed at myself for missing out on Danish songstress Kwamie Liv till today, because a quick dive into her prior releases had me swaying in pure bliss. Today sees the sensual Scandinavian pop artist teaming up with New York hip hop artist Angel Haze on a slinking slow burner named Pleasure This Pain. This smoky one’s fit for listening in the late hours of the night. It smoggily swirls and seductively envelopes with its desperately seething desire.

Bastille – Weapon (vs. Angel Haze vs. F*U*G*Z vs. Braque)

November 13, 2014

It’s crazy how huge Bastille has become over the course of the past couple of years. Who doesn’t know who Bastille is, now? After having melted us with such sentimental melodies and Dan’s swooning vocals, Bastille has ventured into new territory with their recent music. You’ve likely heard by now, but Bastille will release a new mixtape, “VS. (Other People’s Heartaches, Pt. III) come December 8, via Virgin Records. For the long time Bastille fans, it’s common knowledge that Bastille dropped some mixtapes prior to their debut album, ones that were filled with mashup/covers of other artists’ songs. This upcoming third mixtape will be different. Instead of covering people’s songs, Bastille is collaborating with a long list of amazing bands and musicians to give us some brand new tunes. The latest song they’ve revealed off the mixtape is the thumping, dramatic, hip hop laden tune Weapon, a collaboration with rapper Angel Haze, London’s F*U*G*Z, and British crooner Braque.

As long predicted on I Heart Moosiq, New York rapper Angel Haze’s career has taken off. I was floored when I first heard her incredible talent on early track New York. I was entertained and amused when she had her tiff with Azealia Banks. It was also obvious that while Azealia Banks is an incredible artist, Angel Haze’s style of hip hop is more mainstream friendly and propulsive. Haze is still far from reaching her full potential. She recently guested on Ellie Goulding’s amazing rendition of James Blake’s Life Round Here. Now, she’s back with her song Battle Cry, which features the always spectacular Sia Furler. It’s a magnificent, radio friendly song that easily brings to mind rap-pop hybrid music that Skylar Grey has collaborated on that became major hits, such as Coming Home with Diddy and I Need A Doctor with Eminem.

Possibly one of the hottest tracks to hit the internet in the past day or so is this incredible cover and re-imagining of James Blake’s Life Round Here by reigning UK pop songstress Ellie Goulding. The stunning rendition is produced by Noah Breakfast, who chooses to blend in bits and pieces of other music, including work by Major Lazer and Disclosure. The tune also features the always awesome Angel Haze on a sick rap verse. Altogether, I’m quite taken by the cover, though it can’t compare to the original by the always brilliant James Blake, but it’s certainly a fresh and welcome new approach to enjoy. A lot. A lot lot.

Well, gee. Yesterday, nu-disco duo Flight Facilities remixed psych rockers Jagwar Ma in a surprise meshing of genres. Today, Jagwar Ma remixed Angel Haze in yet another scintillating blend of sounds! Jagwar Ma’s Echelon remix is a trippy, mind bending track. Echelon is nearly unrecognizable at first, especially with how much it’s been slowed down. The groovy, psychedelic beats of the remix are so very deliciously Jagwar Ma. Listen to the original Angel Haze track below. It’s worlds apart from Jagwar Ma’s impressive remix.
