LUME, the spellbinding newcomer from the UK who mesmerized us with her dark pulsing, synth whirring debut Magnets just a few months prior, is back with yet another bewitching noire-pop single. It’s called Tip Of Your Thumb, and it’s a moody tingling, ominous winding sophomore track that solidifies LUME’s status as a pop artist to watch. On it, she highlights themes of getting sucked into other people’s issues and drama, as related to internet trolls and gossiping. Fierce brooding Tip Of Your Thumb, which LUME wrote and produced in her bedroom studio, is a scintillating taste and the title track from her forthcoming debut EP.  “I wanted the song to feel like it was playful, whilst relaying a deeper message,” explains LUME, who built the song around bluesy chain-gang verses. She continues, “it’s about the culture of typing our thoughts and fighting social media wars with smart phones, where our thumb takes over to replace our voice.” LUME’s four track debut EP will be arriving in March. You can re-visit debut single Magnets below, or stream her music via Spotify, here.

OFFICIAL VID: Ryn Weaver – Traveling Song

June 18, 2015

Ryn Weaver set the pop world afire from the moment her debut song OctaHate surfaced. Just this week, the pop starlet released her debut album, The Fool, which happens to be sitting in CD format right here in front of me (I pre-ordered a long time ago). One of the most touching songs off the album is actually a stripped down, unhurried and no frills treat named Traveling Song. With Father’s Day right around the corner, Ryn released a music video for the song that will have you smiling in no time. While the music video features actual footage from Ryn’s childhood, the song is a moving ballad that fills hearts with nostalgia and makes us miss our youth. As you wipe that single tear away from the corner of your eyes, yes, I see it, don’t hide it… also revel in the beauty of Ryn Weaver’s voice on this song. Its fragility, its wavering vulnerability can only be nothing short of gorgeous. It’s Ryn’s voice at her very best… You can hear every tiny nuance, every little oscillation and shake of emotion. It’s breathtaking.

I was pretty blown away by Nashville’s MYYRA a couple weeks ago, when the singer songwriter debuted his very first single, All About You. It would seem that many of you were quite impressed, too. All About You is such a beautiful gem, which blossoms and swells with such exquisite emotion, while undulating and bursting with electrifying sentiment. There’s something that’s always so alluring about baritone vocals that pair fittingly with this sort of moody yet breathtaking music. If you missed the share a few weeks ago, today’s new music video is the perfect moment to get on board. MYYRA’s debut EP, “Erase. Rewind. Restart.”, drops June 9th via Clowder Media.

There always seems to be such an influx of amazing music out of the Netherlands and its neighboring areas, and Weval are here to prove that fact. The duo’s hypnotic new single Gimme Some is a force to be reckoned with. Filled with compelling, driving percussion and weightless, atmospheric production, the song literally glistens with dazzling texture and beats. The complexity of the experimental electronic pop song reminds me of Caribou’s music, but far more shadowy and dark. Newly signed to Kompact, Weval will be releasing their Easier EP come November 24. I’m ready to hear more.

I’m always drawn to ethereal electronic pop songs, so when I was introduced to a new artist from Los Angeles by the name of Kacy Hill and I listened to her debut song Experience, I was easily taken in by her enchanting, spritely sound. Little else is known about the newcomer, but little else needs to be said. Just listen to the minimalist electropop jam that seems to carry so much earnest fragility and crystalline beauty.

Some major congratulations are in store, because San Francisco’s very own Cathedrals, after enchanting us with fantastic tune after tune for nearly a year, has premiered their debut EP on Spotify, in advance of of its release on Neon Gold Records come September 8. The premiere includes a Spotify exclusive acoustic version of their song Want My Love, as well as their latest single, the fierce and wicked In The Dark, which you can stream above. With how great every one of their alt pop songs have been so far, I can’t help but be reminded of BROODS’ debut EP from earlier this year, a brilliant release, which, like Cathedrals’ EP, is also chock full of great tunes. Both releases are crafted by talented duos, too. I’m hard pressed to pick a favorite song off of Cathedrals’ EP. Even this the new In The Dark, with its more rocking and simmering darkness, is already a new possible favorite.

If you’re in the mood for something beautifully haunting and amazingly moving, get ready to be floored by Walk Away, a dark, downtempo electronic pop gem from UK producer Ficci and Australia’s Tanya Batt, who melts me into a puddle with her pristine, sublime vocals. I’m hard pressed not to compare those impeccable vocals with Hannah Reid’s, of London Grammar. Both have such heavenly voices, powerful and divine, like that of goddesses. Ficci’s electronic production is intensely captivating and spaciously minimalist, full of moody atmosphere, while also showcasing his instrumental talent. Walk Away is a multi-layered, deeply intricate single and a mesmerizing listen that stopped me in my tracks the moment I first heard it. It’s of the type of music that resonates in your heart and soul long after the last notes fade away, after drawing you deep into its secluded recesses.
