Castaway is one of my favorite pop songs this year, and most certainly the most infectious tropical melodic gem that Jordanian by way of New York starlet King Deco has given us so far. Despite its sun kissed radiance, Castaway is actually a gut wrenching ode to heartbreak. New York’s Almand, who we previously knew as Almond, has taken that emotive force and translated it into sharp slicing, sparkling vibrant future bass. The aforementioned heartbreak takes on a wistful urgency and bittersweet beauty that dominates in a deeply compelling fashion. King Deco’s crisp enchanting voice surrounded by Almand’s gusty exuberant production is a magnificent combination of heart rending and scintillating. The remix is a free download, here.

As a huge fan of Jaymes Young’s music (and that superb voice), I was elated to see that his music has been remixed by New York’s ALMOND, who teams up with SF Bay’s own young talent Delamare on the track. Together, they give Jaymes’ Goldn Gate Bridge mentioning ballad What Should I Do a Balearic beat infused buoyant makeover. The tropical house remix is full on enchanting and cooling in the wake of our latest San Francisco heat wave.

In the last few weeks, New York based producer ALMOND has already given us some massive jams, via some remix collaborations with SAMME and FYKA. Apparently, this producer thrives on joining forces with other producers to throw down hot tracks, because his latest offering is a remix of Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne’s Real Love, and it’s a collaborative effort with Boston newcomer Blacklyte. As someone who happens to really love Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne’s work together, including sizzling hot, fiery Real Love, I can’t help but appreciate the extra dose of bumping energy that the two producers have injected into the song. They give it a funky nu-disco summer makeover that renders it a must at your next pool or beach party.

We already know from past experience that a collaborative effort between New York’s ALMOND and Mexico’s SAMME can be a monumental occurrence, as heard on their cinematic remix of Ellie Goulding’s monster hit Love Me Like You Do. Now, the two producers have teamed back up on a remix of Sterling Fox’s Freak Caroline. This, in fact, is ALMOND’s very first official remix, so some congratulations are in order! For this edit, ALMOND & SAMME go chill and melodic, giving Freak Caroline a wonderfully light and playful buoyancy. The glistening remix pairs beautifully with Sterling Fox’s emotive voice, resulting in a dreamy, airy treat.

After the flood of Chandelier remixes died down, the remixes of Elastic Heart have been picking up, and considering my love of the tune, I’m not one to complain. A massive edit of the Sia hit comes by way of New York’s ALMOND, who teams back up with Canadian duo FYKA for the remix. If you want feel good vibes and blissed out feels, ALMOND and FYKA have you covered on this spirited progressive house remix. It comes off triumphant and majestic, in a somewhat Porter Robinson like way.

Yes, there is no doubt at all that Love Me Like You Do, Ellie Goulding’s red hot contribution to the Fifty Shades Of Grey soundtrack, is one of the top three most remixed songs of the month. Yet, despite the flood of edits, stand out ones keep arising from the pack. The latest is a beautiful, cinematic remix by New York based ALMOND, who teams up with Mexico based producer SAMME on the shimmering, heavenly effort. It’s a slowly gliding and majestically swelling chill trap version of Love Me Like You Do, one that’s undeniably divine.

Oh Wonder’s beautiful, delicate songs make for the perfect remix material, as we’ve heard time and time again in recent months. Every one of their releases is resulting in some stellar edits. New York based producer Almond teams up with North Carolina based producer Myles Travitz on a spectacular chill trap rendition of Oh Wonder’s The Rain, giving it a euphoric, glistening sheen that’s utterly breathtaking.

It’s been over a month since VÉRITÉ dropped her spectacular debut EP Echo. On it is the gorgeous and upbeat electronic pop ballad Weekend. A song as mellifluous as this, carrying as sparkling and beautiful vocals as VÉRITÉ’s, is perfect for remixing into an uplifting, euphoric progressive house track. That’s exactly what New York producer ALMOND and his buddies Canadian duo FYKA did with the tune, creating a feel good experience that reminds me of Zedd’s Clarity. The talented acts worked from scratch, utilizing the acapella vocals and building off of it.
