Last fall, Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller blessed us with a new 7 track mini-LP named Kid Kruschev. And now the Brooklyn noise pop duo has unveiled a new video for LP track Favorite Transgressions, a potent and emphatic congregation of the pair’s scaly sawing, cacophonous jarring sound. The video, directed by Derek Miller, is described as a manic, lo-fi thriller full of dynamic energy and playful morbidity. Sleigh Bells kicks off an extensive U.S. tour this week with a sold-out show at Rough Trade. The full run of tour dates can be found, here. Unfortunately, no Bay Area show is listed, but it looks like we might get to catch them in Austin at SXSW come mid-March considering their slot at the Mohawk on the 18th. Sunflower Bean and Dream Wife joins Sleigh Bells on select dates on their tour, too, making it a can’t miss for those lucky enough to catch them on this voyage. Kid Kruschev is available, here.

Come November 10th, our ears will be eagerly lapping up Sleigh Bells’ new mini-LP, Kid Kruschev. We’ve already heard Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller’s dark electro pop offering And Saints. They now return with some of Sleigh Bells’ signature crashing beats, careening guitars, and clamoring soundscapes on Rainmaker. Despite its more boisterous racket and head rushing appeal, it’s still a rather synth fluid, sleek burbling sound for the noise pop veterans. Says Miller about the song: “Some of you might recognize the main synth/chord progression of ‘Rainmaker’ from the trailer we made for Reign of Terror back in 2011. I’ve always loved those chords…only took me six years to find the right spot for them. I’ve also been dying to sample the Soul Searchers ‘Ashley’s Roachclip’ break, which is up there with Funky Drummer in my humble opinion (Miss you, Clyde). I think the two speak to each other, puts me in a good place. And of course I really, really love Alexis’s vocal which sounds desperate in the best way.“ Sleigh Bells will be embarking on a massive North American tour this winter, with Sunflower Beam in support on multiple dates. Pre-order their 7 track mini-LP, here.

It’s a mighty fine day when beloved edgy Brooklyn noise poppers Sleigh Bells announce a new mini LP. Kid Kruschev arrives November 10th, and the pair have already shared a lead track off the release named And Saints. Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller go the dark electro pop route on their pensive new tune, leaving some of their more raucous and stringent elements behind. As someone who loves gothy, wavey music, this is right up my alley, though I’m sure they’ll also be offering up plenty of their usual clamorous fare in the coming months, too. The pair will be embarking on a massive North American tour this winter, with Sunflower Beam in support on multiple dates. As of now, there’s no San Francisco stop on their tour, though I’m hoping this will change. Pre-order their forthcoming 7 track mini-LP, here.

I can’t wait to see Sleigh Bells once again when they play two sold out nights at the Independent here in San Francisco next month, and I expect it to be one of the loudest and most vehemently spirited shows I’ll catch all year long. The Brooklyn noise poppers’ highly anticipated new album, Jessica Rabbit, is due to arrive just prior to those tour dates. While I eagerly look forward to a record full of riotous roaring music, let’s watch the new video Alexis and Derek have just unveiled for album single I Can Only Stare. Like many other visualizers and clips arriving this week just before Halloween, Sleigh Bells’ video is dark, morbid, and twisted. But there’s no mistaking the video for Sleigh Bells. Alexis Krauss is fierce and magnetic in her studded leather jacket, while her sleek piercing voice is joined by clattering percussion and sawing synths on the song. Pre-order Jessica Rabbit from iTunes if you haven’t already done so, as I have.

Sleigh Bells has officially announced their next album, and Jessica Rabbit as at the apex of my list of albums to pre-order ahead of its November 11th release date. I can’t be more excited for the noise pop duo’s first new album in three years, particularly after listening to new taster, It’s Just Us Now. Its squelching guitar, razor sharp sawing, and Alexis Krauss’ breathy aerial, mettle charged vocals make It’s Just Us Now some trademark, heavy hitting Sleigh Bells. No doubt It’s Just Us Now will be as exhilarating loud and ear splitting thrilling as the duo are known to be live when the band hits up their two sold out shows at the Independent in San Francisco in mid-November. The song’s video also harkens back to the passionate spunky videos of yore. Pre-order new album Jessica Rabbit digitally from iTunes or physically, here.

Sleigh Bells follows up on last month’s Rule Number One with Hyper Dark, which comes with the announcement of a new flurry of tour dates too. On November 15th, Alexis Krauss and Derek E. Miller will be shaking things up at the Independent in San Francisco. I’ll be there, ready for a loud and glorious night out with Sleigh Bells once again. Hyper Dark however, despite its name, is actually a far more demure tune for this Brooklyn noise pop duo. It’s murky and shadowy but not as abrasive and cacophonous as some of their other songs have been. Muted beats and a slow creeping cadence make Hyper Dark one of Sleigh Bells most haunting offerings, a skin crawling delight with some Crystal Castles like moments punctuated by signature sawing Sleigh Bells guitar.

Sorry, kiddos, I’m not done with the covers for the day, yet! Another buzzing cover/remix and likely the most stunning one of the day is Sleigh Bells’ version of Phoenix’s Chloroform. There are covers and remixes. Then there are… re-imaginings. This is a re-imagining. Sleigh Bells have succeeded in creating something completely their own out of Bankrupt track Chloroform. Though the original track is indeed in there, as is a little remnant of Thomas Mars, the new, noisy arrangement with its progressive synths and Alexis Krauss’ arresting vocals is 100% Sleigh Bells. I love it. The Thomas Mars/Alexis Krauss “duet” section leaves me wondering how cool it would sound if Mars was a guest on a future Sleigh Bells song. Watch Phoenix perform the original track below. The clip is from their performance on Letterman back in May.
