Last night, the music gods blessed us with another beautiful Beach House song, as well as details regarding the beloved dream pop and slowcore duo’s next album. There seems to be a theme going on with the Maryland pair’s visuals for the two songs we’ve heard off ‘7′ so far. The trippy videos and their black and white patterns even remind me of Beach House’s Zebra. When matched with their dreamy swirling, kaleidoscopic whirling music, I can’t help but find myself wishing for a stereoscopic 360 video from the duo (yes, I recently purchased a Google Daydream VR headset, it’s no Oculus Rift, but it’s still pretty cool). New song Dive is well worthy of diving head first into. It may start fleecy and soft, but robust guitars soon pull us deeper and deeper into a deep rabbit hole, leaving us spinning in exhilaration.

Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally will release 7 (probably named so because it is their seventh album) on May 11th. We’ll definitely be looking out for that pre-order link!

We interrupt our regular scheduled lineup of songs to share brand new Beach House! That’s right, the prestigious Maryland dream pop duo of Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally has suddenly surprised us tonight with Lemon Glow. The kaleidoscopic spiraling song is accompanied by official news that a new album will be arriving this spring. The pair also said, “Wishing everyone out their love tonight.” Love is in the air alright… our love for Beach House grows more profuse than ever as we dive head first into this ocean of dark, spacey synths and Victoria Legrand’s signature dreamy whorling vocals. Ah, such a splendid night it truly is. Our ears are perked and ready for more album news.

OFFICIAL VID: Beach House – Wild

November 14, 2012

As always, somehow, when my mind meanders and I wonder about something, the next day or so, something pops up related. I swear I’m clairvoyant sometimes. 😉 Either that or I just think of too many things on a daily basis. I was just wondering about Beach House and when they’d release a new single and video, since it’s been awhile since their last one. Wouldn’t you know it? Today, they released a new video! This one is for fantastic Bloom track Wild. It’s just one of many incredible dream pop songs off that excellent album. Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally are such experts at creating tapestries of nostalgia and beauty. They never fail at making me feel like I’m floating away to their music. The video for the song is directed by Johan Reneck, and it’s a stark examination of human emotion. It’s pretty intense at times.

Brand spanking new Beach House!

March 7, 2012

Are you ready? Huh, huh, huh? Brand new dreamy, nostalgia inducing, indie pop! Here’s the just announced single Myth with the usual hypnotizing, gorgeous vocals from Victoria Legrand and instrumentals from Alex Scally. I’m guessing this will be a lead single off of their upcoming album Bloom which drops May 15. The haunting, atmospheric song easily carries you away into another world. Listening to good Beach House music feels like weightlessness… a sense of floating away.

UPDATE: Let me just add in how good this is, in case I wasn’t clear on that above. I just listened to it several times on loop while posting it and again after. Well done, Beach House. Listening to it brings me back to Treasure Island Music Fest 2011. I was on the ferris wheel overlooking the sparkling San Francisco Bay with downtown SF to my right, the cars on the Bay Bridge were twinkling as headlights switched on, the sun was setting and painting the sky brilliant purples and pinks, Beach House was playing the dreamiest music on the main stage… it was a moment to treasure for life. Treasure Island indeed… It doesn’t often get much closer to perfection than that very moment, regardless of everything else in life. Everything else was just unimportant noise for a magical several minutes.
