If there really were a “broken hearts club”, it’d probably be really hard to become a member. There are a lot of broken hearts in this world, and we’re all clamoring for some comfort and respite from the anguish and torment that the affliction brings us. Just remember, we’re not alone, and we have gnash to sooth us with his new lullaby now, too. The California producer surprises us with a chill, acoustic alt-R&B route on “the broken hearts club”. Lonesome guitar strums and gnash’s soft, heartfelt vocals tug at our capacity for empathy and commiseration. Heartbreak has never been more exquisite and endearing. For a moment, we’re actually thankful we get to feel every tiny twinge that comes with heartaches. We wouldn’t want to be left out of this club and miss out on wallowing with gnash. Every new song from Sam Fischer only serves to reel me in deeper under this Australian-born, Los Angeles-based crooner’s spell. The Los Angeles based singer songwriter breaks our hearts with acoustic R&B pop on This City, a heartfelt and rousing serenade from his debut EP, Not A Hobby. The bittersweet melting aches with sadness and anguish, thoroughly accentuated by Sam Fischer’s ardent cooing, which has never been more spectacular. This City is one for those  late nights, when sleep evades you and heartache casts a long shadow under a lonesome moon. You can also stream the single via Spotify, here.

It’s usually “me, me and the City” most nights I head out to San Francisco for live music, though those evenings often end up with me bumping into music buddies or running into many familiar faces. That’s what’s great about the always tight knit music community, whether you’re an artist or just a fan. Well, I highly recommend  that those music pals don’t skip out on Josh Tobias, the blooming Brooklyn funk, soul, and R&B talent who’s now returned with a song named “You, Me and the City”. If you’re one of the many people heavily enamored by Tom Misch’s jazzy chill, cozy mellow form of soul, as well as Bruno Major’s snug and comforting, romantic and stripped back music, then you’re going to fall head over heels for this new Josh Tobias track which the gifted musician wrote, co-produced, and performed all by himself. I suddenly want to head up to the City myself on this frigid winter night, with Josh Tobias wafting through my ear. I can cruise those city streets all night long to “You, Me and the City”, while an aching longing for sweet tender romance tugs gently at my heart. This last official single of 2017 from Josh Tobias is a free download, here.

PJ dropped an intimate black and white music video for her song This Is What It Looks Like earlier this week, giving us the opportune moment to partake in its heartwarming acoustic R&B soul. The North Carolina native made waves with her Rare album last year, and if this is your first whiff of the rising songbird’s music, you can count on it that you’ll be hearing a lot more about her soon. Even the Bay’s own Kehlani is a fan. You can stream or purchase her album Rare from major services, here.
