16 year old producer Pluto released his very first EP earlier this year, and he’s obviously poised to take the electronic scene by storm as the gifted young artist spellbinds endless new fans with his latest track, Breath, a collaboration with his buddy ye., a talented newcomer himself. The chopping, slicing, and percolating instrumental track is absolutely intoxicating, so much so and such a bustling fashion, you just might forget to breathe. Breath is like a What So Not and Odesza fusion of grittiness and the ethereal. The sensationally scintillating track is a free download, here.

Hippie Sabotage gave us some of my favorite flips and remixes of these past years, often times helping to propel artists I love into even greater success with their always intoxicating edits. The duo from Sacramento demonstrate how versatile and skilled they are with a new original named Devil Eyes on which they croon magnetically over a slow burning, steadily snaking trap beat. Devil Eyes is hypnotic, and at just over two minutes long, you’ll want to hit the play button again immediately after. The gritty electro soul song simmers moodily and seductively, leaving me hungry for more originals from the duo. It’s a heckuva way for Hippie Sabotage to start off the new year.

In the past months, I’ve been drawn more and more into new Nashville based electropop artist CAPPA’s music. Her songs are so catchy, so deliciously seductive with their woozy, moody beauty. One of my favorite CAPPA tunes is her bubbly, effervescent, Grimes and Ryn Weaver evoking song Hush. Fellow Nashvile resident Super Duper brings the Grimes part of that out even more, with a touch of Sleigh Bells sharpness too, on a sublimely sparkling and frenetically frothy future bass & chill trap remix. Bright eyed, jittery, and colorful, Super Duper’s Hush brings a huge grin to my face.

Brooklyn’s Sweater Beats unleashed a slick new tune this week, named Cloud City, and it’s an epic 808s punctuated track. Frenetic and non-stop dizzying, Cloud City is the title track off Sweater Beats’ forthcoming EP, out October 28 via HW&W. I’m heavily reminded of Flume on the tune, a fantastic original after all the amazing remixes we’ve been hearing from the producer in the past while. Every time I’ve seen this guy throw down live, he’s dropped amazing sets. I’m greatly looking forward to what else he has to offer us on the new EP.

British producer Alex Metric’s insanely infectious song Heart Weighs A Ton, featuring vocals by Stefan Storm, is another one of those red hot summer tunes that’s been remixed many times over. Los Angeles duo Vindata turns in the latest version, a stunning, trumpeting trap and future bass version, reminding me at times of Hudson Mohawke’s recent single Chimes with its epic intensity.

Trippy, wonky remixes seem to be a thing this week, and another such heady treat to come my way is this remix of Tennessee alt pop band ELEL’s 40 Watt by Daytrip. 40 Watt is another one of those incredibly sunkissed and vibrant indie pop tunes, so melodious and catchy. I, for one, am a huge fan of that tune. Daytrip takes that track and pulls it into the foggy shadows, with some heavy, anxious production and some great hip hop rhythm. The NY production duo reminds me of RL Grime and Hudson Mohawke on the remix, but more experimental and dizzying.
