OFFICIAL VID: 2:54 – Blindfold

September 16, 2014

Well, holy cow, it’s been like, over two years since I’ve featured UK sister shoegazers 2:54! I know it’s been awhile, but the duo is finally returning with a sophomore album, The Other I, come November 10 on Bella Unions, and boy am I glad to hear new dreamy music from them again. Case in point, watch this new video for their fantastic new single Blindfold. The simmering, moody tune might be their most catchy and punchy yet, and it quickly reminds me why I was a fan of 2:54 in the first place.

Funny how things come in bunches. Just stumbled upon a killer cover of Seal’s classic song Killer by UK indie shoegeaze band 2:54. The old tune from the early 90’s sounds great in the new cover. It sounds more acidic and gloomy than the original.

OFFICIAL VID: 2:54 – Sugar

August 10, 2012

Moving onto the drone-y shoegaze dreamy but dark stuff, 2:54 released a video for Sugar off their self titled debut album. You guys seemed to have really enjoyed 2:54’s work previously, so I’m sure this does not disappoint. It’s certainly up there as one of my favorites I’ve heard from them so far.

OFFICIAL VID: 2:54 – Creeping

May 29, 2012

2:54’s fuzzy, shoegazy Creeping has a new video to match the release of their debut self titled album. The dark video is filled with horses and lush landscapes, somehow matching the sexy, droning, dark, but freeing sounds of the song from the London alt-rock act.

There sure is a lot of buzz around 2:54 lately with their self titled album coming out soon. Here’s the B-side to Creeping, which I shared recently. The March will not be on the debut album, though Creeping will.

Returning to droning guitars and dreamy noise, here’s the final cut of 2:54’s Creeping. Demos and unfinished cuts have been passing around for awhile, but the final, polished track is available and it’s worth the wait. So, here’s an extra dose of shoegaze for you, this time from across the pond and from rising duo 2:54. Creeping will be on their upcoming EP.

OFFICIAL VID: 2:54 – You’re Early

March 31, 2012

Brit shoegazers 2:54 released another great video and single titled You’re Early. It’s a very satisfying dreamy, guitar filled, indie rock track. Their popularity will definitely continue to rise with quality songs like this. Out of curiosity, I finally looked up what their band name meant. 2:54 is heavily influenced by punk bands, and the name was derived from the “bit where it gets good” in a Melvins song. Mystery solved. But… which song?

New 2:54 track

February 23, 2012

British dream pop rock band 2:54 previewed a new song today titled You’re Early. It’s certainly heavy on some satisfying guitars and  very shoegazy. Here’s my previous post about the indie noise duo with some of their other tracks that impressed me before.

2:54

December 7, 2011

Been hearing the band name 2:54. Finally got around to checking them out. London indie rock duo 2:54 is very shoegaze waily and grungy. The shoegaze side of it reminds me a little of Silversun Pickups. Totally digging these few trax below that I’ve listened to so far. I can see what some of the buzz is about. And what’s with all the forest music videos lately? I swear music videos seem to come in timed groups of similar ideas and visuals!
