SXSW wasn’t the first time we’ve seen morgxn perform, but seeing him on a bigger stage at We Found New Music’s official showcase, climbing the speaker stacks and slaying the crowd with an assurance that reminded us of U2′s Bono was even more exhilarating than our prior experience seeing him live. Plus we near lost it when morgxn performed his last single, Translucent, his best song to date, in my humble opinion. Though we’re still inextricably hooked on that song (re-visit our feature, here), the California crooner’s new single has swiftly snagged our hearts, too. Carry The Weight, revealed via a lavishly constructed music video, is lifted from morgxn’s highly anticipated debut album “vital”, due out May 18th via wxnderlost records / Hollywood Records. It’s another soaring pop anthem bursting with passion and loaded with a sweeping chorus. With Carry The Weight, morgxn seems to lift a weight off our very shoulders. His voice both comforts and lifts us off the ground. Hope overcomes anguish, desperation, and heartbreak. morgxn says: “it can get messy. it can make no sense. but at the core – we are all learning to combine our sensitive voice with the weight of our personal strength. “carry the weight” is my personal anthem. and it exists because i am constantly learning to stand up for myself and for my family and friends.” The swiftly rising star will be performing at LaureLive, Firefly Festival, Lollapalooza, and Cayuga Sound Festival in the coming months.
