In 2017, many of our favorite Whethan tracks were the Chicago electronic artist’s collaborations with Los Angeles based singer songwriter Oliver Tree. The intriguing artist now returns solo on a new banger named Upside Down, on which he goes the eclectic route, bringing in a whole lot of indie dance feels with his brisk bounding beats and alt styled vocals. Upside Down is a whimsically thrumming dazzler that reminds me of Josh Ocean’s project NVDES, as well as some of Basement Jaxx’s earlier garage hits. Upside Down is just over 3 minutes of party ready fun, and I can’t help but wonder whether its title and lyrics were inspired by Stranger Things. This upside down certainly seems a lot more fun than the other one. Download/stream this fine dance specimen, here.
