There seems to be no limit to RAC’s ability to masterfully transform all kinds of music to his whim and fancy. The Grammy winning songwriter and producer takes on James Vincent McMorrow’s poignant ballad Evil from the Irish artist’s 2016 album We Move for his latest remix exploit. The atmospheric yet gentle re-imagination is a heartrending beauty and more evidence of RAC’s jaw dropping versatility and expertise. How something named Evil can feel so good is almost confounding, save for the fact that anything involving both RAC and James Vincent McMorrow must be transcendental. RAC imbibes Evil with a lush stringy radiance that takes my breath away. The producer and his band are currently on tour for recent album EGO, a stellar listen from start to finish. They’ll be hitting up the Independent in San Francisco with NVDES next Tuesday. Tickets for the sold out show are highly coveted, and I’m looking forward to being one of the lucky few who gets to be there for the event after having enjoyed RAC’s rapturous main stage set at Outside Lands Music Festival just last month.
