Andrew Savage, the frontman from much adored Brooklyn rockers Parquet Courts, is preparing to release a debut solo album this fall. We had a chance encounter with the news when we stumbled upon the second song he’s previewed from the release, an earnest and windswept, bucolic and weathered piece named ‘Wild, Wild, Wild Horses’. The slow burning hymnal, alongside Savage’s deep vocals, remind me of Noah and the Whale, particularly songs off my favorite album from them, 2009′s First Days of Spring. There’s also a haunting quality to the song, a ghostliness and loneliness that seeps its way into the heart. Debut album Thawing Dawn arrives on October 13th via Dull Tools.
