In case you’ve been sleeping on GEMS’ Every Full Moon series, let me catch you up on what’s going on. The Washington, D.C. indie duo have been releasing a new enthralling tune every month when the moon waxes luminously full and perfectly rotund. It’s been nearly half a year since GEMS started this series, and each song that’s arrived has been a bewitching ‘gem’ indeed. Poison is the latest in their stellar sequence of tunes. If this is what poison actually tastes like, sign me up for some toxins, quick! Poison’s smoky simmering, crisp springing alt pop is reminiscent of EX COPS, Stars, and Metric. There’s an ominous sense of doom to be found in the song despite its euphonious appeal. Dark yet mellifluous, cataclysmic yet dulcet… Poison is a lethal concoction that has slayed my heart. You can find GEMS prior songs on Soundcloud, here.
