New Canadian project Bernache comes by way of singer / producer Emmanuelle Proulx, also known for her role as singer and guitarist in Men I Trust, the terrific trio from Quebec that recently spellbound us with their sultry, snazzy pop. Emma debuts her personal project with a mesmeric lo-fi entry named Your Name. The trip hop inflected indie electronic cut is a gauzy slow burner with wispy billowing vocals and warm warbling synths. The end result is thoroughly inebriating, like a languorous dive into an elaborate dreamscape that curls about us like thick heavy fog. Ethereal guitars reminiscent of The xx punctuate Your Name’s Chromatics meets Beach House murkiness alongside a hypnotic dusting of 90′s hip hop vibes. Your Name comes with a hypnagogic video that befits the song’s mood and ambiance. The passage of time itself seems to slow around us while we’re engulfed by Bernache’s weighty swirling debut. The single is a free download, here.
