Ever since Pretty Sister appeared on our radars with a clever cover of Katy Perry’s California Girls, one that even involved some sly Tupac sampling, the Southern California based project has been on our indie bands to watch list. They’ve since regaled us with some feisty enthralling originals, which they now follow up with Thirsty, a tune they tag “Z-Funk” and quite appropriately at that. Surf and beach meets swaggering funk, confident hip hop, and sensuous R&B on this thirst quenching, steamy groovalicious diamond in the rough. Thirsty is like a Bruno Mars and Outkast soiree, with The Knocks handling deck duties. “Get down, baby” Pretty Sister sings on their single. Done.
