I’ve been heaping loads of praise on rising indie trio The Federal Empire, and for good reason too, as you should know if you’ve been following along with us lately. The Los Angeles based band first hooked us in over a month ago with their whimsically infectious debut I Never Liked Your Friends. Since then, they’ve gone on to release an excellent EP entitled The American Dream on top of collaborating with Martin Garrix on the producer’s latest dance hit, an uplifting and inspiring song named Hold On & Believe. We now visit the very first track off The Federal Empire’s four song debut EP. Just like everything else we’ve fallen for from this band, Never Saw It Coming is earthy endearing and an animated foot stomper. Its folksy indie rock and heartfelt alt pop boasts sweeping synth laced hooks and an overall rustic charm. Never Saw It Coming is large yet intimate, melodic and brisk, the perfect way to launch ourselves fully into The Federal Empire’s The American Dream EP, which can be streamed on Soundcloud and purchased from iTunes. There’s no claiming we “never saw it coming” when The Federal Empire’s buzz rises exponentially.
