The stylishly inventive new music video for Lulu James’ It’s The Time affords us the perfect chance to regale in the British soul artist’s new song. Lulu James captivates with operatic magnificence on the single, which she aptly describes as “melodramatic 21st century soul”. Though crystalline and diaphanous, It’s The Time exudes much visceral power. If gothic soul were a descriptive expression, I’d promptly apply it here, to It’s The Time.

UK producer Sebastian Carter is gearing up for the release of his new EP City Lights, and in case you need any extra encouragement to check that record out, he’s also revealed a sublime song from it named Unlock. The expansive deep, glimmering soulful house opus features Brighton’s Atonal. There’s a hint of Jamie xx like effect in its Balearic accents. Unlock is a beautifully entrancing work of intoxicating aural art. Purchase the single from various outlets, here.

Danish duo Blondage (previously Rangleklods) return as ravishing as ever on new song FLF, a bewitching and spellbinding dark electro jam with some smoldering R&B accents. It’s almost as if Crystal Castles and FKA Twigs partnered up on a dreamy pulsing alt electro aria. FLF leaves my skin tingling and my heart racing, capturing the urgent and desperate effect of falling utterly and totally in love. FLF will be on Blondage’s self titled debut EP, out September 16th via Tambourhinoceros.

Any band or artist who also harbors an undying love for Kate Bush gets extra brownie points in my book. Whether Mu is a devout Kate Bush fan or not is a mystery to me, but the fact that the Vancouver based electropop duo has covered Running Up That Hill might be a strong indication that they are. Their spellbinding, electro rippling rendition of a song I adore to no end is a glamorously enrapturing addition to the constant stream of Running Up That Hill covers that continue to surface over the years. It’s a testament to how influential Kate Bush has been and will be for all eternity on musicians and listeners alike. Mu brings an abundance of their The Knife and Kate Boy evoking synth lurching, drum thumping sound to the classic hit.

I couldn’t resist sharing Fickle Friend’s Cry Baby now that they have this cool violet tinged retro music video out for the song. The UK outfit is simply too infectious on the sweet twirling, vivacious throbbing pop song, a neon pulsing mixture of MUNA, HAIM, and The 1975. There’s no resisting the urge to get up and dance as the Brighton based five piece take us on a bouncy, frisky sonic ride. Cry Baby is out now on iTunes.

When I saw that Woodes had released a music video accompaniment to her sensational song The Thaw, I couldn’t pass up on the chance to re-visit the smoky simmering song. Plus, Woodes’ video is stunning, an artistically captivating visual representation of the song’s “thawing” faculty. Woodes is a favorite emerging Australian singer songwriter, and she thaws my own heart over and over again with this soft caressing, intricately unfolding alt pop and electro pop beauty. Its lush verdant, sooty sensual sophistication evokes a fine array of artists including Banks, Gordi, Kllo, and Poliça.

The swagger is strong on Archivist’s new single Everything Is Wanted, taken from the British band’s forthcoming Memo EP, due out October 28th. The grooving luscious electro indie jam burns with scorching desire. It’s a warm roiling ocean of disco beats and smooth, molten soul. Don’t pass up on these mesmeric swooning lads if you’re fond of Jungle, Friendly Fires, and Formation. Archivist’s Memo EP is the quartet’s first new record since their 2013 self titled debut EP.

You Only Like Me With The Lights Out is such a tragic song title, full of grief and sorrow, pain and disappointment. Despite all the bittersweet poignancy that title predicates, Avid Dancer’s new tune is a lilting aria whose crunchy guitars, spindly crooning, and infectious ooh ooh-ing take us to intoxicated sonic heaven. The Alaskan based project gives us a rich and stirring brand of alt rock that evokes Broken Bells with a touch of Cold War Kids. Avid Dancer’s You Only Like Me When The Lights Out will be out as a single on September 2nd.

You can try to convince me that Midnight To Monaco isn’t one of the most exciting new projects to surface in the past year, but you’ll fail miserably. After all, the Canadian duo are signed to venerated label Future Classic, and they’ve already given us two stellar tracks that I can’t get out of my head, including Suicide and One In A Million. Ricky Ducati and Donnie Sloan continue doling out fresh and unique electro doo-wop on One Way Ticket. Wherever this ticket is meant to take us, I’m all aboard! Midnight To Monaco injects me with a sense of adventure with the sleek zestful, cool dashing jam. The duo takes me back to October last year, when I visited the French Riviera and wandered along its gorgeous shore from Nice to Monaco, arriving just before nightfall as the twinkling lights of the chic resplendent city came to life. Revisit the rest of Midnight To Monaco’s songs to date on Soundcloud. And get ready to sashay and doo-wop the night away.

Though Royal Tongues’ latest song is named Overdose, there’s no possible way to ever overdose on the Los Angeles indie pop duo’s overflowing enthusiasm and lively spirit. Overdose leaves me eager for even more of the band’s radiant indie rock and jouncing electro pop. Royal Tongues is royally hooking on the colossal anthem, a larger than life burst of ecstatic energy much like The Wombats gone Passion Pit. Overdose is out now on iTunes.
