iheartmoosiq:

When I was contemplating compiling a best debuts of 2015 list, Viola Beach’s Swings & Waterslides was an obvious must. The wonderfully springing anthem from the English band is such an infectious anthem, it’s no wonder it accrued nearly half a million streams on Soundcloud in just five months. The indie pop outfit returns in the new year with their second single, Boys That Sing, a gleaming jangler drenched in warm rays of sunshine and brimming with endearing charm. The quartet were chosen as one of Annie Mac’s New Names of 2016 and Boys That Sing only serves to add to the up and coming band’s growing clout. The single gets a release on January 22nd via Communion.

UPDATE: In light of today’s tragic news, I’m re-sharing Viola Beach’s Boys That Sing. It’s with a heavy heart this morning that I announce all proceeds from this song, Viola Beach’s second single, will be donated by Communion Records to the band and their manager Craig’s families. Boys That Sing is available on iTunes. The band, including all four members plus their manager, have perished in a car accident in Sweden on their way to Arlanda Airport. Such bright lights extinguished, such burgeoning careers cut down cruelly… RIP, Viola Beach, my thoughts are with your friends and family. I had hoped to see you at SXSW, a rather minuscule detail in such a massive loss. Thank you for the music you’ve given us during your short time here. Your song Swings & Waterslides, was one of the best debut singles of 2015.
