Brandyn Burnette has proven himself a musical bird of many dazzling colors with his moving songs this year, each one delivered with raw, passionate sincerity. But even with that knowledge in tow, new song Nothing At All had me reeling from its spellbinding power. The progressive soul ballad is one of Brandyn’s darkest yet. Nothing At All is a tense, despairing balance of mournful vocals, passionate guitar, and wobbly production. The Los Angeles based St. Louis native departs from some of the Jon Bellion and John Mayer comparisons of the past with the new one, having crafted his own uniquely stirring hip hop influenced futuristic sound. Perhaps Nothing At All is a blueprint of what’s to come, or just one of many directions this talented young singer songwriter and producer can take at a moment’s notice. One thing is certain, Nothing At All has me entangled in its stormy waters, an unmerciful ocean of destructively intertwined agony and ecstasy. Nothing At All will be on a highly anticipated debut EP titled Made Of Dreams, out November 13th.
