Previous to today, I had never heard of Amy Bezunartea, but she had my day at a hushed standstill when I listened to her stripped down, somber song New Villain. Like a skeletal blend of EMA, Torres, Waxahatchee, Girlpool, and Sharon Van Etten, the singer songwriter exudes an arresting honesty and earthy, charismatic presence on the folksy and liberating indie rock song. New Villain is the title track and first single from her new album, out September 25th on Kiam Records.
