Without doubt, one of my favorite melting, tender tunes of the year so far is On An On’s poignant Drifting. It’s not a song one would normally consider rife for remixing, but Brooklyn’s Sammy Bananas has me blown away and enamored with his introspective, hypnotic remix. The melancholic quality of the original is certainly still front and center stage on the song, but Sammy Bananas gives it a darker bite as well as a deeper, more suspenseful atmosphere. The “I got to get out” sounds even more urgent and desperate when highlighted on this clever remix. This stunning remix of Drifting is free to download, here, while the original is off On An On’s album And The Wave Has Two Sides, out July 24th.
