OFFICIAL VID: London Grammar – Sights

Sights is London Grammar’s latest single off their brilliant debut album If You Wait, and though I’ve listened to it countless times, watched them perform it in small venues, and blared it off my CD in the car numerous times, I’m still absolutely floored when I watch their new music video for the atmospheric, moving song. I’ve been in love with their trip hop inspired sound and Hannah Reid’s crisp, pristine vocals for a long time now, as devoted IHM followers know. There isn’t a single London Grammar song I don’t love, but Sights is high up on my list of favorites. On top of that, this new music video is absolutely genius. They wittily kept it simple, recording what seems to be a live performance of the tune, but the shifting of the cameras through the band members and past the crowd is so expertly crated and seamless. Once you get to the end of the video, you truly comprehend the gist of it all. The filmmakers and London Grammar capture live music experience perfectly. There’s a breakdown of the “fourth wall”, and when partaking in live music, that’s exactly what happens. The line between audience and performer is blurred. Present is direct interactio. There’s a sharing of emotion, fear, hope, tribulation… past, present and future.
