Shabazz Palaces remixed FOE

January 31, 2012

Wow, Shabazz Palaces did a reworking of FOE’s Cold Hard Rock and layered in some rap vocals. This works far better than I expected! The original track off FOE’s debut album Bad Dream Hotlineis a great grungy, post-punk track, and the remix is an interesting mesh of that plus indie hip hop.

Time for people to quiet down…

January 30, 2012

SPIN put forth a great article about Lana Del Rey, separating fact from fiction. And what may surprise some is that there is barely, if any, fiction. This should really show some people that they need to stop squabbling and complaining about Lana Del Rey. The issue isn’t whether you like her music or not, that’s our own given right to decide. Hate the music, like the music, it’s up to you. The issue is that all this polarized frenzy about her being “fake” is total bullcrap. And this should give a LOT of much needed insight as to why I’m sick of hearing people talk about her like that. Excuse my rare moment of very opinionated ranting on here. Take the time to read this, if you, for some reason, believe Lana Del Rey is a fabrication of the media and has no passion, talent, or drive.

Knife Party Essential Mix

January 30, 2012

Knife Party did a live stream of their show in the UK this past Saturday on BBC Radio 1, and here’s the Essential Mix recording in full. I expect it must be a wicked mix of dubstep and house from the buzzing act made up of Pendulum members. No tracklisting available yet.

darker times
they’re telling boulder heavy lies
looks like all we’ve got is each other
the truth is obsolete
remember when all i had was my mother
she didn’t compromise
she could recognize
our daughters and our sons
are just candles in the sun
don’t let him see divide
don’t you let her see divide
she’s got the whole wide world in her juicy fruit
he’s got the whole wide world in his pants
he wrapped the whole wide world in a wedding band
then put the whole wide world on her hands
she’s got the whole wide world in her hands
he’s got the whole wide world in his hands.

New moosiq from Mr. Frank Ocean. There are rumors he’ll have a new LP in the works. Such a busy, busy man. I’ll have to check this out later on, but I’m guessing this is brilliant enough to share, since Mr. Ocean’s work has been incredible so far.

Bad Girls

January 30, 2012

M.I.A.’s Bad Girls has been floating around for awhile now, but now there’s an official audio release since the single drops tomorrow, January 31. A fourth album is set to be released this summer, and I would think this single will be on the cut. Lately, there’s also been a lot of buzz about a collaboration with Madonna and a possible appearance with her during the Super Bowl halftime show this weekend.

Feist released a brand new video today for the first track off her latest album Metals, which I’ve listened to before, so I guess it’s safe to post the video without my headphones. Plus, it’s Feist, can’t really go wrong with that. Here’s The Bad In Each Other.

Well…. this is a problem…

January 30, 2012

Not the optimal start to a new week… I’ve left my earphones at home! Sorry, guys! I can think of a few things I may be able to post from memory later today though, but otherwise, I’m stuck without audio at work. I’ll see what I can throw together when I have some downtime. Gals, you all know the issues with switching purses sometimes. 😉 Ahhh boy. Yep, there’s at least a couple of things I can still post that I discovered over the weekend.

Crystal Castles is working on a new album to be released sometime THIS SUMMER!!!!!!! In an interview with NME, Ethan Kath stated that they are slated to start working on their third studio album in Croatia this February. He also promised the new album will not be “soft”. Good. Hope they keep the edge that makes them so incredibly captivating and groundbreaking! And I honestly can NOT wait to see them live yet again. There’s something so electric about their live act. And you can’t just place it all on Alice Glass’ eccentric and hypnotizing persona. Ethan Kath in his hoodie controls a large part of the success with his production and throw down of beats live.

Now, I can’t talk about and think about CC without listening to a goodie from their previous album. Time for my Crystal Castles dose, and it’s long overdue. Loooove you, Baptism.

New RAC mixtape!!!

January 27, 2012

Just in time for the weekend! Heck yeah! This time, RAC put together a great mix for Perrier (yes, as in the French beverage maker). Does Perrier throw insane parties or something? As long as they require talented DJs and producers to create wonderful mixtapes for us, I’m not complaining. Here’s the 51 minutes of electro house goodness and the tracklisting below.

Visti & Meyland – Stars (Rodion & Mammarella Remix)
BWH – Stop
Gigamesh – People (ft. Nicole Godiva)
Simone Fedi – Bitter Devotion (Ewan Pearson Remix)
